Background....
It has now been three years since we were turned down lottery funding which was the final nail in the coffin for the planned surf club RNLI joint venture to replace the entire premises and lifeboat house next door.
The decision of the club following this meeting was to attempt to renovate and improve our existing premises as far as possible and the RNLI agreed to help if they could see their lifeguards benefitting from facilities upgrades.
Obviously we lack the funds to do everything at once so we ask for the patience and support of all members during this phase of the clubs development.
Financial....
Now fully equipped as a club, we are able to divert some of our regular fundraising income to our building projects. This includes funds raised from the highly succesful ROUND the ROCKS and JUNIOR-NIPPER challenge events, and we would likem once again to thank all those involved, competitors, supporters and sponsors.
We would also like to thank those that have made some very generous personal donations recently, this support is the only way we can develop the club whilst keeping the cost of membership down.
We have received financial support from the RNLI, to date a grant to assist in renovating our kitchen / first aid room and a further donation to pay for our connection to the mains drainage.
Plan of attack....
Replace entire badly leaking Kitchen Roof and replaster interior ceilings. (DONE)
Remove shabby fibreboard ceiling from changing area and redecorate. (DONE)
Make good and redecorate front facias including guttering replacements. (DONE)
Build external storage for boat and quad. (DONE)
Build external storage for rescue boards in alley by boat house. (DONE)
Redecorate current kitchen / first aid room. (DONE)
Extend changing area to alley at rear to provide showers. (DONE)
EXTEND CHANGING AREA TO ROAD and CREATE UPSTAIRS BALCONY.(Planning Permission Obtained - Watch this space!)
How you can help....
We do not wish to pass on labour costs to our membership and so we'll be keeping an eye out for able volounteers when construction is planned.
