IT in India
For the past couple of years, India has drawn considerable attention
from worldwide for its outstanding contribution to Information
Technology (IT). The states like Karnataka and Andra Pradesh considered
as IT states of India. The State government leaders are considering IT
as "mantra" for global recognition and fast marching towards
the strengthened technological development.
Can this IT be used in India to transform the country by providing a new
vision to the youth of the country, enabling them to stand up, no longer
feeling inferior to others in the world? The answer is obviously yes,
certainly the IT will empower the county's economy.
The export of manpower was the major than developing of project in own
motherland few years ago and now Indian techies are very well
facilitated, since there are many s/w are grown up in India, instead
transfer of manpower to the client place, projects is brought from the
outsource, and same power was utilized here to bring the proud to the
nation Starting with routine jobs, most companies graduated to more and
more sophisticated tasks and India started getting recognized as having
special talent for software development and management of software
projects.
Export target for IT products and services crossed many billion of
dollars a year, making India the number one IT design centre, and the
number one provider of IT products, are indeed goals to cherish.
IT education
Even though India's mass population with is main obstacle for its
outstanding growth, this potential is used in the smart way- i.e.
educating the youth, making affordable to anything best indeed this a
difficult task since most people of the country can afford very little.
This is one of the reasons why India is yet to be converted into a large
internal market, in which Indian companies can learn and consolidate.
The Indian Institutes of Technology and deemed institutes and
universities have indeed provided good training in these areas. The
persons graduating from these institutes are recognized as amongst the
best in the world. Similarly a large number of private engineering
institutions and computer training centers have come up which train a
very large number of personnel in the country. The process is
continuing, and little needs to be done today to enhance this pace. The
problem is that such training is often limited in scope and these
institutions churn out what can be described as technician level people.
Even though such training is useful, what is needed is a large body of
middle-level people with good knowledge and skills. There is little
effort in this direction and it is left for the persons to train
themselves on the job to reach the next level, i.e. they are required to
get updated themselves every time. This is largely inadequate.
IT the current scenario
So far, for India, USA was primary client, the slowdown in the US
economy and the lay-off spree by tech majors may have shattered the
dreams of Indian IT professionals and number of young aspirants in
India. But there is hope still. A million more jobs are beckoning from
within the European union and about half of them are the public sector,
which is considered a safer proposition. Similarly others countries like
Australia showing greatest on utilization of Indian professionals for
their IT tech growth and these are places where language is going to a
small barrier.
My words to Kulalities
We the kulalities, are making a minute fraction of the India's
potential. Why can't we too grab new technologies to build our community
into global knowledge group? Why can't we too be a vehicle for bringing
national pride? Let us stop grumbling, no regrets, start taking the
important step to march forward to addict to the best. My keen interest
to guide the teenagers who are interested in taking up IT as career. Any
