  April 2005, Chapeltown, Leeds

Leeds based, artist led group Monitor staged a 3 day event in the basement of a large family home in Chapeltown, and area of Leeds with a rich and diverse history and culture . Artists were invited to submit proposals for the space around the theme of negotiation- of memories, of history and of the community.   The event took place over three days, with talks and discussions around the artwork and the themes explored. Friday involved the artists and the group setting up for the evenings opening.Saturday was a day for invited speakers, including Max Farrar, active in the many political movements in Chapeltown since the 1970's and Paul Chatterton, founder of various Leeds housing co-operatives and campaigner for social justice.

The third day of the event included the artists talking about their pieces, and gave the opportunity for an informal question and answer session.
