Productions that use actors number between five and seven each year, giving our members a greater opportunity to practise their art than most other groups in the area.

Acting is the basis of any amateur dramatic society, without it we would not exist. As such opportunities for acting throughout the year are immense in comparison to all other skills. For each of the three main productions an initial meeting is held where the script is read. On the following meeting members can audition for whichever rôles they are interested in. This involves reading a predetermined passage from the script. The director, having heard all interested parties, deliberates and then announces their decision. With a musical having a far larger cast the chances of being involved are enormously increased.
Aside from the main productions there is the One Act play / Christmas party in December, the Variety Show in June, the youth and adults entry into the Duncan Rand One Act Play festival and our films.
Once cast in any production it is essential that actors learn their lines as soon as possible in order to concentrate on other aspects of the performance and not hinder their fellow thespians. It is also necessary to attend rehearsals regularly.
