If that doesn't work...here's what we have come up with for webcam fix
It's worked for some... follow along closely and read carefully
Click bookmark so you don't loose this page because you have to reboot often.
Read this page a few times before trying it... It's long and a pain.... but it has worked

TIP: Killing the ad banners in Messenger always helps
I have a file available to download that does that
Just click unzip...click OK...Click close
Don't change the extract location on the zip
Click the alladsblank.exe that appears on your desktop and allow the change

This proccess covers many possible problems...Do it all if your cam won't work

Click start / settings / control panel / and select the add/remove programs icon.
Highlight Yahoo! Messenger on the list and click remove
When given the option...chose CUSTOM uninstall.
Click select all for each option screen until you reach finish ,

Now , click MY COMPUTER , then "C" drive, then the WINDOWS folder
You will be warned to be careful , this is correct
Look for the DOWNLOADED PROGRAM FILES folder.
Open it and DELETE the following 2 files
"Yahoo! WebCam Upload Wrapper" and "Yahoo! WebCam Viewer Wrapper"
Files in this folder are replaced when visiting websites

REBOOT your computer

You must have some basic updates done ...Click start / settings / windows update
Microsoft will check your computer and offer free updates your computer needs
Get all CRITICAL updates first ...you will have to reboot when it tells you
Then return for recommended updates , reading and choosing what you may use

When those are completed , make sure your Virtual Machine is updated
Click start ... then find ... and search for MSJAVA.DLL in your c:\ drive
The current version is 5.0.3809.0
If not...get the correct version for your operating system...HERE... at the bottom
You MUST reboot after downloading and installing Virtual Machine

Now reinstall messenger by clicking ...HERE

Now , if all went well , it's time to test the cam. But remember this,
You cannot use Super Webcam and have a person on dial-up try to view
Therefore , set it to " SMALLER IMAGE " in Messengers prefers till it works.
Always REMEMBER , use Super Webcam if you BOTH are on cable or DSL.
The cam should work now ... But you are not done yet ...Don't stop now.

Repeat above steps if it does not work. If it works , don't quit there !!!
You have to reboot again , I know , but hey , you want it fixed

Now return to Yahoo's old Java chat using your Internet Explorer browser.
Do that by clicking.... HERE....and entering chat.
Once in java...click STARTWEBCAM button and let webcam wrappers load

If all went according to plan ...you are done
If not and it's still broken...I'm sorry...try again ?

Step by step quick list re-cap:

1 .Uninstall Yahoo Messenger using the "custom" option, selecting ALL files.
2. Delete "Yahoo! WebCam Upload Wrapper" and "Yahoo! WebCam Viewer Wrapper" found in the Downloaded Program Files in the Windows directory.
3 .REBOOT
4. Install Virtual
5. Re-install Yahoo Messenger
6. Start WebCam and set preferences to small image.
7. REBOOT
8..Go into chat using Java (via the website using Internet Explorer)
9.Start WebCam in Java chat.
10 .REBOOT
11. Have Fun :)

Here's the run down on Yahoo voice error''

·         There's a few things you can do to improve your connection to voice....but Yahoo voice has been bad for a few months now..it keeps disconnecting or just dropping users

·         Run Yahoo's audio wizard listed under help

·         If the mic fails there...click start / run and type
SNDREC32 ..see if the mic works there...if not
The mic may be bad or plugged in wrong

·         Lots click voice off....wait 20 seconds...then click voice on....this helps connect and is a easy way to refresh voice

·         Try to clean up your start-up menu to free up RAM
This is probably the MOST important part....programs hide on you and run without you knowing...More then 10 or so programs running and you will have problems...6 or 7 is better...keep to a minimum
Read this page and shut down ALL unused programs

·         Now do the free updates provided by Microsoft for your OS
Start / windows updates or start / settings / windows update
Do all critical updates and read the recommended updates
These updates are very important...go back till no more criticals

·         Try changing the connection to no network detection in Messenger's preferences under the connection tab

·         If it's still not connecting you can try deleting the voice from Yahoo that loads in downloaded program files...click start and run and type in ... C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files ...delete the Yahoo chat and voice applet files...they will reload when entering chat

·         If using Messenger and still not getting voice...try a custom un install....go to control panel / add/remove programs icon and select Yahoo messenger....then choose ...CUSTOM ...when offered....choose ... select all ...to each option till finish

·         Click help and about in Messenger to see your current version

·         ALSO..I gave up on Yahoo's latest releases......it's voice just sucks...I use 5.5.0.1243...others report success with older builds....click help and about in Messenger to see your build...

You having trouble getting your ID logged into yahoo chat ?

If your account says locked for security reasons...click the link in the system box
If it's confusing...don't touch your account for 24 hours...failed attempts make it longer

Yahoo has a user id glitch and there is a booter that bans ID's in chat only
If you can get into your mail and account info ...but not chat and / or were booted
Or got a Ypager error while chatting
If it keeps telling you the user id or password are incorrect or invalid
One of two things happened... you got booted and logged in to soon
Or...you violated Yahoo Terms of Service and Yahoo's new programing got you

All you have to do is...scroll / run a booter you downloaded / cuss or abuse chatters
You notice that NEW blue report abuse chat button above send ?
If Yahoo recieves a report thru it with you being an ass...poof your ID is gone
Yahoo has legal permission to use this new technology to ban your ID

If you were booted and lost use of the ID
You need to write to Yahoo on this... form...and explain what happened in detail
The more complaints...the better chance it will get taken care of
They may respond that you violated the Terms Of Service
The ID should work after days to 4 months , a booter might hit it again
So make sure you write... You can still see your friends list by going

If that one fails try this ... HERE

You might even get a banned Messenger ID into chat by changing connection in prefs to firewall no proxies..no voice though or try it ... HERE ... it might work

There are other id blocks One id works others won't...here's a quick fix attempt to try
Right click and EXIT messenger from lower system tray near the time first
G0 to c/program files/yahoo/messenger...if your on 5.0 you'll see 3 files with your id attached
They are .cf / .ab / .wcp ..delete those files associated with the bad id
If your on a 5.5...open the cache folder and empty that
Deleting any of these id files wont hurt anything...they will recreate themselves
Start Messenger and try now

IF it still doesn't work...you have to get serious and delete ALL of Yahoo

You MUST right click and exit messenger from the task bar

Type *@yah* into the find area
Make sure it's looking in "c" in the lower area
When the list appears...right click and select delete to all results
Close folder when that's done

Now...there are 2 folders in the " windows folder " that need cleaning
Right click...select open my computer...then right click select open "c" hard drive
Right click and select open the " windows " folder
Right click and open the "cookies folder " and the " temporary Internet files " folder
Click edit at the top...select all..then delete ALL inside these folders
( a "dat " file may not delete...that's ok )
Close the windows folder when done

Now...click start /settings /control panel
Open the add / remove icon and highlight yahoo on the list
Click add / remove button...and select "custom" uninstall
As each set of options appear...keep clicking "select all" till you reach finish
When your done ...click my computer / "c" drive / program files
Delete the yahoo folder if there is one there

Almost there...now..you need to go to the change password site
BUT...not change the password...just sign into a secured site

Don't change your password...just get to the page where you can....click the OK or cancel button
The idea is to log into a secured site...trying to force yahoo to recognize the id

Now you need to reinstall messenger....get it here

Yahoo Messenger

Before starting the download...click tools at top...then clear history
then... click refresh at top to make sure your not getting a cache copy of the page
Now cross your fingers..and restart Messenger
You might get use of these user id s again

MOST RECENT PROBLEMS

Can't view a webcam...server busy?..Yahoo has a glitch....try this...send person a PM
Then click friend / view webcam at the top of the PM box..it might work

If you can't get messenger to connect...click login / preferences / connection...and set it to no network detected
Seems some 1237 and some 1232 builds don't want to connect at the default... no proxy setting

Voice is acting up a little...it sometimes disconnects /won't work in pm / cuts out ( Aug. 16,2002 )
It's been happening for about a week..it's not the versions...it seems server side

Messenger 5.0 and Messenger 5.5 cam viewers are incompatible
You can only view the cam if you both have the same version ( Aug. / 2002 )

Yahoo has disabled Messenger 4. versions ...they work on HTTP in connection tab(  7/17/2002)
Click Login / preferences / connection ...set to firewall no proxies....sorry..no voice on http setting

This weekend users started experiencing Ypager crashes no mater what they clicked...7/14/2002
Try this...Right click and EXIT messenger from near time...go to c/program files/yahoo/messenger
You'll see 3 files with your id attached ..../ .cf / .ab / .wcp ..delete those files

Yahoo 4.1 versions are not loading all the profiles/alias on the drop down arrow...( July 08 2002 )
Try deleting your cookie ( empty c/windows/ cookies and c/windows/temp internet folders)
Delete all the .wcp / .ab / .cf files with your ID's from c/program files/yahoo/messenger

The room list in Chat 2.0 hasn't been loading for many...use Yahoo's Messenger for now.

Users receive a URL address in a pm and click it...
It then asks to allow a plugin...some allow it...that's the WRONG thing to do
The download is a worm virus that attaches to mail and PM's
It attaches itself to to messages and is passed when messages are sent to friends
It usually appears like this http://123.456.789:80 (example only )
